CONTRACT
Q & A

Welcome to the Contract Q & A section of the WTA web site. Here we post answers to your questions about the WTA contract. Below are questions recently posed to WTA building representatives. Do you have questions about the contract or work related issues?

Submit your questions to your building representatives or the WTA webmaster. Your question will be answered and may be posted below.

I received a notice from District Office in my first paycheck that listed the personal days I have accumulated. Listed are accumulated leave days carried over from prior years, family sick leave days (5), and the current balance of 15 personal days for this school year. Where did the five family sick leave days come from? How should I use them?

The five family sick leave days (part of your accumulated personal leave) are set aside from the unused number of 15 personal days earned yearly. If you deplete all fifteen of your personal days for the current year and suddenly have a need to care for a member of your immediate family (for example - your child, or spouse) you can use those accumulated five family sick leave days for that purpose. However, once you have depleted those five family sick leave days from your accumulated personal leave account, you will need to wait until the following year to replace those days (provided you have enough personal days remaining at the end of the school year). WTA members are encouraged to contact their building union representatives with any questions or concerns regarding the appropriate use of personal leave days.
