RC10 Wins Awards - 2010
RC10 took three awards int the annual NYSUT Journalism Awards Competition sponsored by The New York State Teacher. The award luncheon was held at the end of the inaugural Journalism Awards Celebration and Conference at the Hilton Gardens Inn in Troy on Saturday, March 27, 2010. RC10's awards were in Class R-IV, retiree local with a membership of more than 1000.
The above award was the result of an editorial written by RC10 President Dave Golden. It appeared in the November, 2008 issue of the "RC10 Skyline News" Newsletter edited by Ernie Reis. Dave urged retirees to "Don't panic! Plan!" and reassured them during the recent financial chaos.
This award was given for a human interest story about "Grampa's Warriors" that appeared in the September, 2008 issue of the "RC10 Skyline News." Money was raised in honor of Tom Stead, a Berlin retiree, by his kids and grand kids for the Alzheimers Association. The article was by Bonnie Maxon, who also retired from Berlin.
Jon Whitney, RC10 Webmaster, is accepting the award for Best Web Site in
Class R-IV from NYSUT Vice President, Maria Neira, and NYSUT Secretary-Treasurer, Lee Cutler. The award is below.
