New Member Benefits Information: Unum Poster

If you are dissatisfied with APPR and need to let your voice be heard – let’s do it. We need to flood the New York State Commissioner’s office with thousands of letters expressing our disapproval. We need to spread the word of a letter writing campaign. Every person writes just one letter! Then we all mail it on the same day – December 10, 2012.

The address :

Dr. John B. King, Jr.
New York State Education Department
89 Washington Avenue
Albany, New York 12234

Spread the word to other teachers, school districts, parents, grandparents, friends, students, etc. The more the merrier. Include articles on poverty, parental involvement, and other issues that impact students. Describe teachers who make an impact, but are/will possibly be labeled “ineffective”.

Don’t just write complaints, let’s also offer real suggestions and advice on how to get an evaluation system right!

It’s that simple. If we put all our complaints and suggestions down on paper, influence others to do the same, then we can’t be ignored.

THE UNION NEEDS VOLUNTEERS FOR THE FOLLOWING:

  • Public Relations Committee: promotes the union's image through creative and traditional means
  • Community Action Committee: involves fundraising, giving back to the community, community involvement activities, etc
  • Social Committee: to organize and execute social opportunities for the membership
  • Member Benefits Committee: explore and assess various member benefits
  • Someone to draft a monthly newsletter

If you are interested in any of the above, please contact Chad at csimpson@mcs.k12.ny.us.
