Set Up Multiple User Accounts with XP
Are your kids changing your home screen? Let them have their own desktop and you can have yours!
You and each of your children can have their own account that will keep track of desktop, e-mail, documents, etc.
You can set up administrator accounts and limited accounts. The administrator can see all files, change passwords,
add and remove programs. There can be multiple administrators on one computer. Limited accounts can change their
own passwords and settings and view their own files. They cannot install any software that will make changes to the
system.
To set up a new account, log in to your account. Since no other accounts have been set up, by default you are the
administrator. Click Start and choose Control Panel, then choose User Accounts. Choose Create a New Account. The
wizard will walk you through the steps:
- Name the account
- Choose the type of account - limited or administrator
- Click Create Account
You're done!
To switch accounts, choose Log Off at the Start Button and choose Switch User
