Wellness Commitee
In an effort to improve the health and well-being of staff and students, the district created a wellness committee. This active organization has provided staff with information for indoor and outdoor activities and sponsored a few healthy contests. One of the premier events resulting from this initiative was the walking challenge; the district had many teams trying to walk around the perimeter of New York State. Participants wore pedometers donated by United Memorial Medical Center, working in teams of four to "step up" the number of steps they took in a day. Another event was the weight loss challenge, also involving teams, that many district staff participated in early this year. Finally, this committee has been instrumental in securing wellness centers in each district building.
