Good Showing on October 18th

The annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk was held October 18th at Watt Fruit Farm in Albion. It was great to see so many in pink and so many who wore survivor shirts. There seems to be more and more survivors....and all

because of the generosity of people like our walkers and sponsors. A number of district employees are survivors of a disease that targets teachers more than the average population, although research hasn't yet discovered why. Thank you to all who participated in the walk, sponsored walkers and helped organize the district teams!
 

BJs Membership New Offer

BJs is offering a new promotion to BTA members that save members a bit of money and benefits the scholarship fund as well. By joining through this promotion, you will have one person as the main card holder who will receive all of the information from B.J.'s.  A second person (staff member, friend, family member) is added for a total of $35.00 plus tax ($37.80) for 2 memberships for 15 months each ($18.90 per person).  If you are already a member, your card will be extended by 15 months.  Our former 12 month program was $21.40, this is significantly better due to the lesser cost, the extra time and the scholarship benefit.  The Scholarship Committee for the Teachers' Association receives $5.00 for each 2 person sign up.  Everyone wins!  :)
As you can see in the paperwork, no cash, please, checks or credit cards only. The applications go from Pamela Wentworth right to our representative at BJs. Genesee Region Teachers Center

The GRTC offers grants and scholarships to area teachers. The grants can be used to fund various projects in your classroom and the scholarships can fund conferences and workshops. These resources might just help you fund something that the district cannot. There is an application process for both types of funding; for more information, click on the GRTC link or contact the Teachers Center director, Candace Bower.
