Annual Leadership Award Goes to Mary Sabato

The Batavia Teachers’ Association is pleased to announce this year’s recipient of the annual award. Marty will be honored on Thursday, June 5th at an evening dinner at Samuel’s Grande Manor which will recognize the efforts of local union members who have demonstrated outstanding leadership.

This is Marty’s 4 th year as secretary of the B.T.A.; she has also served as a building representative for six years. Marty is best known for her organizational skills, attention to detail and creative fund raising.

A certified reading specialist, Mrs. Sabato is completing 31 years of teaching. To her credit, she has developed the high school learning center into a comfortable, productive work zone where students of all abilities feel comfortable accessing intervention.

The mother of three young men and wife of David (MS Social Studies teacher), Marty is active in the Variety Club of Buffalo, and was instrumental in bringing Challenger sports, including baseball, tennis, soccer and dance to Genesee County . Additionally, she is on the Board of Directors for the Genesee Country United Way .

The Batavia teachers are grateful for Marty’s leadership and commitment.

NSBA Site Visit a Great Success

The National School Boards Association site visit to Batavia was a successful showcasing of how technology is supporting learner centered classrooms. We had 67 visitors from AR, AL, LA, KS, SD, PA, OH, IL, and NY browse through our various classoom visitation sites. All comments during the visit were positive and final evaluations will be provided to us soon. Thank you to all teachers who participated and to all staff who helped organize and carry out this great endeavor. For more information about what was shown, see NSBA.
