Winter Leadership Conference - Political Action

  • Approximately 50 % of registered NYSUT members are registered Democratic.
  • The Committee of 100 includes over 800 members.

  • Lobbying is a result of Vote Cope contributions.

  • Part of Vote Cope monies is returned to local unions to support local issues/elections/local political action.

  • Sandra Lee Worth, Dan Burling, and Jim Hayes were the only three local politicians who decided not to override the Governor's veto of last year's budget.

  • Vote Cope funds are not significant enough to cover the cost of the Education Yes advertising by NYSUT in support of school budgets.
